This page explains how we decide what goes on Ketoside, where the numbers come from, and what we do when something is wrong.

Sources and dated checks

  • Every number has a source and a date. Nutrition figures, serving sizes, prices and store availability each trace to a specific page (a brand page, a retailer’s product page or an official PDF), the date we checked it, and the way we got it.
  • We have to have read the page. A figure only counts if we loaded the page and read it. A search result or snippet that mentions a number is a lead, not a source, and we don’t publish from it. Third-party keto sites and forums aren’t used as sources for nutrition numbers either.
  • Dates use the format “” and each guide shows when it was last checked.
  • Prices are shown only with the single product page they came from, the date we read it (“as of ”), and the store or ZIP (or “online” for an online-only seller). If we read a price more than 28 days ago, we remove it and show “Price not checked yet”. We never estimate prices.
  • Where to buy. We name a store for a product only if we read that store’s product page for it within the last 28 days, and we link that page. Otherwise we show “Where to buy: not verified yet”, or say nothing. Stock status (“sold out”, “out of stock”) is shown with its date and follows the same 28-day limit.
  • Sources are listed at the bottom of each guide.

What “Verified” means

A product is marked Verified when its nutrition comes from an official source (a brand page, a retailer product page showing the brand’s Nutrition Facts panel, or an official PDF) that we read within the last 28 days, and our latest re-check of that source didn’t fail. Otherwise it’s marked “Re-check due”. We don’t publish a product whose check date is more than 28 days old.

How we calculate net carbs

We use one formula for every product and show total carbs, fiber and the sugar-alcohol type beside our number, with the brand’s own claim next to it. “Net carbs” isn’t a term the FDA defines, and the American Diabetes Association recommends counting total carbs. The full method, including how we treat allulose, erythritol, other sugar alcohols and glycerin, is on how we calculate net carbs.

How we rank

  • By our net carbs per serving, lowest first. Not by price, not by brand, not by popularity.
  • A product is ranked only if its nutrition is fully sourced: a serving size, total carbs, fiber, sugar alcohols (where it has any), and protein, from a page we read, plus a source link, a check date, and a net-carb figure we could calculate. Price, price per serving, servings per package and serving weight in grams may be missing; a product can still rank without them.
  • Products we couldn’t verify aren’t ranked. We say so, or leave them out. Products that market themselves as keto but aren’t, by our math, are mentioned briefly with their net carbs, not ranked.
  • Rankings say what they cover. We write “of the products we’ve verified” rather than “the best” or “the lowest” unless we mean the whole market, which we can’t see.
  • Estimates are labeled. When a label lumps glycerin and other sugar alcohols into one line, we use the half rule from our method page, mark the figure “(estimate)” and say why.

Health wording

We don’t make claims that a food treats, cures or prevents any condition, and we don’t say a product is “safe for diabetics”. A label can’t tell you how your body responds. Pages carry a note to talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian.

Corrections

If you think something is wrong, write to hello@ketoside.com with the page, the figure and a link to the panel or a photo. We check it against the source. If you’re right, we fix the page and change the “last checked” date. If a brand changes a recipe or a panel, we update the same way. We don’t quietly delete mistakes that mattered: material corrections are noted on the page.

When sources disagree, we say so on the page.

Independence

We don’t accept payment from brands for rankings or placement, and brands don’t review or approve our pages before they go up. If we ever receive a free product, or any payment from a brand, we’ll say so next to that product.

Affiliate policy

There are no affiliate links on Ketoside today. If we add them:

  • They won’t change rankings, and rankings stay by net carbs per serving.
  • Every page with affiliate links gets a clear disclosure before the first link, in plain words that we earn a commission if you buy through the link, as the FTC’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require. “Affiliate link” alone won’t be the whole disclosure.
  • We’ll update our privacy page first.
  • We won’t link to or promote supplements, pills or gummies.
