Most “keto snack” lists are recipes or a wall of shopping links. This one is snacks you can buy, sorted by net carbs, with the source and date behind every number. We only rank products whose nutrition fields are all sourced; where we haven’t checked a price yet, we say so rather than guess. The list is ranked by ketoside net carbs, never by price.

The headline number is ketoside net carbs, our own figure from the panel. The brand’s number sits beside it as their claim, and where the two differ by 1 g or more we say why. Net carbs here = total carbohydrate minus fiber, minus allulose and erythritol in full, minus half of other sugar alcohols such as maltitol. Glycerin is not subtracted. “Net carbs” isn’t a term the FDA defines, and the American Diabetes Association recommends counting total carbs, so we show both. How we calculate net carbs.

  • Quest Protein Bar, Cookies & Cream: no brand net-carb claim captured. Estimate: the label doesn’t split glycerin from other sugar alcohols. We subtract half of the 5 g line (erythritol and glycerin): 22 g total − 13 g fiber − 2.5 g = 6.5 g. Quest’s product page also shows a second panel (21 g total carbs, 15 g fiber, 2 g erythritol) that would come to 4 g; we’ll settle it against the package. [8]
  • Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bar: no brand net-carb claim captured. Estimate: the label doesn’t split glycerin from other sugar alcohols. We subtract half of the 6 g line (erythritol and glycerin): 22 g total − 12 g fiber − 3 g = 7 g. Quest’s product page also shows a second panel (21 g total carbs, 14 g fiber, 3 g erythritol) that would come to 4 g; we’ll settle it against the package. [9]
  • Atkins Endulge Chocolate Caramel Mousse Bar: label claims 2 g net; ours is 8 g. Estimate: the label doesn’t split glycerin from other sugar alcohols. Maltitol is the first ingredient and glycerin is also listed, so we subtract half of the 12 g line (22 g total − 8 g fiber − 6 g = 8 g); Atkins subtracts all 12 g. [11]
  • Lily’s Creamy Milk Chocolate: label claims 4 g net; ours is 8 g. Estimate: the label doesn’t split erythritol from isomalt, so we subtract half of the 8 g sugar-alcohol line (18 g total − 6 g fiber − 4 g = 8 g); Lily’s subtracts all 8 g. Lily’s current “Rich & Creamy Recipe” lists isomalt. [10]
  • Atkins Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar: label claims 3 g net; ours is 11 g because its 8 g sugar-alcohol line is glycerin only, which Atkins subtracts and we don’t. The page also shows two label versions (240 vs 250 kcal); we used the panel table. [12]

Not keto-friendly despite the marketing: Catalina Crunch Traditional Snack Mix comes to 9 g net carbs per 1/2 cup (13 g total carbs, 4 g fiber), with corn flour, tapioca, rice flour, sugar and molasses in the ingredients. [13]

Crunchy snacks

Cheese crisps are the lowest-carb crunch we’ve verified: Whisps Parmesan (0 g total carbs per 28 g on the current bag) and ParmCrisps Original, Parmesan only (1 g total carbs per 28 g). [1], [2] Quest’s tortilla-style protein chips are the other crunchy option we’ve fully verified: 5 g total carbs, 1 g fiber, 4 g ketoside net carbs and 18–19 g protein per 32 g bag, no sugar alcohols. [6], [5] For more crunch, see low carb crackers.

Sweet snacks (and the sugar-alcohol catch)

Sweet snacks are where sugar alcohols and glycerin show up, and where brand net-carb claims depend most on how those are counted. The Atkins bars and Lily’s above show the gap: 2 g vs 8 g, 3 g vs 11 g, and 4 g vs 8 g.

On-the-go snacks

  • Archer Cowboy Cut Old Fashioned Beef Jerky: 2 g total carbs, 0 g fiber, 2 g ketoside net carbs and 24 g protein per 2 oz (57 g), 150 kcal. The panel shows 0 g sugars, but the ingredients include organic sugar. [3]
  • Blue Diamond Whole Natural Almonds: 6 g total carbs, 3 g fiber, 3 g ketoside net carbs and 6 g protein per 1 oz (28 g, about 28 nuts), 160 kcal. [4]
  • Wonderful Pistachios No Shells, Roasted & Salted: 8 g total carbs, 3 g fiber, 5 g ketoside net carbs and 6 g protein per 0.25 cup, 160 kcal. [7]
  • Quest Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bar: 22 g total carbs, 21 g protein, 7 g ketoside net carbs (estimate); sold at Costco US in a 14-count variety pack. [14]

Snack mixes

Catalina Crunch’s Traditional Snack Mix is 9 g net per serving (see above), so it doesn’t make our ranked list. [13]

Keto snacks at Costco

At Costco US (Costco shows no prices, so we list none): Whisps Parmesan and Cheddar crisps (Parmesan 0 g per 28 g) and the Quest bar variety pack (Cookie Dough 7 g, estimate). [15], [14] We haven’t verified Walmart snack listings yet.

Whisps’ brand page and an older 1 oz label say 1 g carbs; the current 2.12 oz bag shows 0 g.

What “0 g carbs” means on a US label: total carbs, fiber and sugar alcohols are each declared to the nearest gram, and less than 0.5 g may be shown as 0 (21 CFR 101.9). So a “0 g” line can still mean up to about half a gram per serving, which adds up over several servings.

Low carb snacks and blood sugar: what labels can and can’t tell you

A label tells you how much carbohydrate, fiber and sugar alcohol is in a serving. It can’t tell you how your body responds. If you’re looking for low carb snacks for diabetes, work out the right targets with your clinician and check your own numbers when you try something new. Nothing here is a treatment or a substitute for medical advice. The American Diabetes Association recommends counting total carbs and monitoring your glucose (ADA).

FAQ

What’s the lowest-carb snack on this list? Whisps Parmesan Cheese Crisps, at 0 g total carbs per 28 g serving. [1]

Why does your net carb number sometimes differ from the package? Brands decide for themselves how to count fiber, sugar alcohols and glycerin. We apply one method to every product (see the note near the top of this page) and show the brand’s claim beside ours.

How we check

Each product record links to the nutrition panel we used (retailer or brand page), with the store and price where we checked one, and the date we checked it. We only list products whose required fields are all sourced; anything else stays off the tables until it is. Where sources conflict, we say which one we used. We haven’t taken our own label photos yet; that waits on a US tester. We re-check labels at least every 28 days.
